Hosting down

This is an important entry that people who rely on my hosting should read:

Hosting for palmcoder.net and plantesuse.org and other sites will be going down for a few hours later today

I am moving my OS from Debian to RH as I am getting fed up of it (not to slate Debian, but I prefer RPM based distros!). You should see planetsuse.org and palmcoder.net connectivity restored within a few hours.

Off to Paris

Off to Paris tomorrow for WebSphere Everyplace Connection Manager training. WECM is a piece of software that maintains a TCP/IP session to a backend server (mail, irc or whatever) regardless of you switching your network. Never been to Paris before and have chosen to go on Eurostar the day before so that I am not knackered for the training (starts at 9am). I like France, so expect loads of photos!

Riots in London

Well, we have riots in London over the Fox hunting ban. Protesters raided the Commons which is utterly ridiculous, how the hell did they get in? The speaker of the house had to close the public gallery, again which is ridiculous. The countryside alliance need to realise the country does not want Fox Hunting anymore, it is a cruel sport no matter what they say. If they want to cull foxes, do it humanely, getting ripped apart by hounds is not humane. Saying it is is again utterly ridiculous. When will they realise they live in a different world as well as a different time! This is the 21st century.

For giggles looks like someone we know was at the riots...

Summary

Instead of posting separate blog entries, I thought I would put it all together. I have been busy doing the Author Review on the SUSE book which is going slow at the moment. About 4 chapters left to do. I still need to apply fro my ITIN number so I can get paid, but that is at the back of my mind at the moment.

Got back from the HP Linux Business Partner Event in Barcelona on Friday night ans I am still tired from it (had to get up at 3am on Thursday for the flight). The two day event was very good, got to speak to the people I needed too, including the Linux practice manager for EMEA. Maddog did the keynote speech wondefully and he definately managed to get the idea of Open Source accross to a lot of slaes people, which was impressive. Lots of questions were asked off the back of it, so that was good!

And finally, glad to see you are OK Roger, slightly concerned when I got a phonecall from his wife last week telling me he was in hospital! Get well soon mate!

New house, new offer

Aimee and I got back on the horse after our attempted offer on the flat in Hampstead fell through (we found out freight trains ran all night and we pulled out). We have placed an offer on a loverly flat in Balham with a garden and OSP, which is great.

Hopefully this will all work out, as we so badly want to move out by christmas.

After going to Steve's house (who has Broadband), the pictures from the wedding and the honeymoon are now up in the gallery.
